Everything You Need To Know About Juice Cleanses, Revealed.

Looking to kick-start healthier habits and give your body a well-deserved reset? We break down the do’s and don’ts of cleansing.

Morning coffees, office drinks, on-the-go lunches, dinners with friends. Throughout the week, we put our system through a lot. If you’re looking to feel healthier from the inside out, a cleanse can be a really useful way to give your body a reset. But does cleansing even work?

We break down the main benefits of doing a cleanse and take a closer look at the do’s and don’ts, to give you the best advice on how to safely cleanse your body and mind.

What are the main benefits of doing a cleanse?

A juice cleanse offers a whole host of benefits to help reset your digestive system and rejuvenate your body and mind. A cleanse is a type of diet that involves consuming only fruit and vegetable juices and soups for a specific period. This gives your digestive system a short break from processing solid food and helps to flood your body with natural, raw nutrition.

While it can be hard to incorporate the recommended amount of fruit and vegetables into your diet each day, a cleanse offers an easy and convenient way to replenish vitamins and minerals while supporting your body’s natural detox process. By minimising the work that your digestive organs need to do to process food, your body will have the energy for other things, like actually waking up in the morning without coffee.

Not only does a cleanse help to improve digestion and detoxify your body, many people notice benefits including increased energy, brighter skin and improved focus.

How often should you do a juice cleanse?

This is really up to you. We offer a range of plans from 1 day to 7 days. As a beginner, we would recommend starting off slowly.

  • 1-Day Cleanse: Great for beginners or a quick reset.
  • 3-Day Cleanse: Ideal for deeper detoxification and nutrient absorption.
  • 5- or 7-Day Cleanses: For more experienced cleansers seeking significant detox and renewal.
  • Considering intermittent fasting? A 5:2 Juice Diet Plan gives your body the nutrients it needs on fast days.

Which is the best cleanse for me?

First time juice cleansing? Then we’d suggest trying the PRESS Beginner Juice Cleanse. This cleanse is the perfect starting point to help encourage healthy habits. It is our highest calorie juice cleanse and includes a few sweeter juices such as the Apple & Cinnamon Shake and the Tumeric Glow.

If you are looking to stick to regular meal times, consider the Beginner Soup Cleanse. Alternating between hot and cold liquids is more satisfying and is perfect for those who want to keep active during their cleanse.

Already a seasoned cleanser and ready to unlock even more benefits? Go for the Signature Juice Cleanse or Advanced Juice Cleanse.

How do I get started with a cleanse?

Get the right mind set

Cleansing is as much of a mental battle as it is a physical one. If your mind isn’t prepared, your body will likely fail. Three days before you plan to start, think about the positive effects the cleanse will have on your body and try to reduce your alcohol, caffeine and processed food levels so that the cleanse doesn't hit you as hard as it otherwise might.

Rest up

You are putting less fuel into your body, and therefore you are going to have less energy. This is not the time to be running marathons or training for a Hyrox competition. Make sure you’re getting eight hours of sleep a night and you’re not overexerting yourself during the day.

Stay Hydrated

You should be drinking eight glasses of water a day on a regular basis. Make sure to up your water intake while you’re on a cleanse to about two litres per day. Not only will your body function better, but it will also help to clear out any toxins you have in your body.

Exercise Gently

We’re talking some light yoga or taking an afternoon walk in the park. Just because you’re resting doesn’t mean you should be a couch potato, and your body should still be moving and stretching while you’re on a cleanse to keep things functioning properly.

Dump the junk

Clean your cupboards, fridge and desk of all processed and sugary foods a few days before cleansing. When the temptation isn’t there, it’s much easier to avoid cheating on your cleanse. If you're really struggling, we recommend nuts like almonds.

Plan distractions

Plan to be busy for a good portion of your day so that you don’t binge just because you’re bored. Paint your nails, read a book, go for a walk, phone a friend.

Stress less

The best suggestion is to start a cleanse on a weekend when you know you can relax without stress.

FAQs: What to do on a cleanse

Can you eat on a juice cleanse?

Try not to eat any solid foods for the length of your plan. If you are really struggling, you can supplement with fruit and nuts.

Can you drink water on a juice cleanse?

Absolutely. Make sure to up your water intake to about two litres per day.

Can you drink coffee on a juice cleanse?

It’s best to avoid caffeine during your cleanse. Try cutting down gradually before you start.

Can you drink tea on a juice cleanse?

Herbal teas are absolutely fine. Avoid black or green tea that contains caffeine.

What to do after a juice cleanse?

Once you've finished your cleanse, try to avoid going straight back to processed food. Spend a week eating clean, raw foods to keep your body looking and feeling amazing, it will go into complete shock if you go back to greasy, fatty foods with no nutritional value afterwards. Saying that, it's likely you won’t even want to eat processed foods after a cleanse. Your body becomes used to the natural, clean foods that it should be consuming and won’t want to go back to the junk.

We know it’s hard to believe, but you’ll see for yourself if you decide to go on a cleanse!
