Letter From PRESS Founder - 2025, The Year I Ditch the Chaos

From better sleep to PRESS meals, our founder Ed shares how simplifying his approach to wellness created a more balanced and fulfilling start of 2025.

Over the holidays, I caught up with a friend who recently attended a Tony Robbins seminar. Jack (his name, haha) is a quintessentially British guy who usually sips his tea with a stiff upper lip, but even he came back a convert, totally motivated—and with some life-changing insights. The key takeaway? To get anything done in life, start with your own state of being: your body and mind. Sounds basic and simple, but…read on.

This got me thinking…When I’m rested and energized, I’m unstoppable (okay, almost). But when I’m tired? Even doing laundry feels like a mountain to climb. So, this year, I’ve ditched my custom GANTT chart goal planner and I’m taking a different approach… no goals… just practices that will give me the best chance of feeling my best, and success in whatever area will follow!

Simple Is the New Smart

Last year, I built a life plan that was a total monster: 12 life pillars with 5 goals, and a timeline for each… It’s NASA, actually SpaceX, level planning. People were impressed when I showed them this beast, but here’s the thing: it wasn’t the right tool for managing my personal life. This approach has worked for running a business with 12 departments, but it wasn’t helping me find happiness or success in the end. This year, I’m keeping it simple and focusing on me: my physical and mental state.

Here’s my game plan:

  • Sleep Is Everything: When I sleep well, I can take on the world. Enough said.
  • Less Booze, More Brains: It steals your time, energy, and, let’s be real, your long-term health. (alcohol and dementia are linked—ask my dad’s doctor.)
  • Fruit vs. Chocolate: It’s a small, specific change that feels doable. No “quit sugar forever” melodrama here. Instead of vague resolutions, I’ve gone specific.
  • Go for PRESS meals: Not just because I’m biased (haha), but because it’s healthy, balanced, and super convenient. (Bonus: I’m kicking off the year with our 8-week plan to see how far I can go!)
  • Morning Glory: My mornings now include 10 minutes of meditation, journaling, and a gym session. I have also joined the 5AM club - it’s honestly the single best change I have ever made to my lifestyle.
  • Personal Pause: Alone time is my new best friend. Instead of filling every silent moment with calls or podcasts, I’m learning to sit with my thoughts. Spoiler alert: it’s surprisingly refreshing.

Why This Feels Different

To keep myself on track, I’ve recruited two accountability partners. (Yes, it’s cheesy, but it works!) Think of it as a buddy system for grown-ups - we check in on each other, share progress, and, occasionally, trade motivational memes. The focus for the first three months of this year isn’t about ticking boxes or reaching arbitrary milestones. It’s about setting myself up for success by taking care of the basics. When you’re physically and mentally in a good place, everything else feels easier. Challenges? Bring ‘em on. Goals? Suddenly less scary. Work? Full steam ahead.

Cool stuff I’ve found

Want to jump on the wellness train? Here are some tools I’ve loved:

  • Podcast: “The Happiness Formula” by Mo Gawdat
This is the most practical guide to happiness I’ve found. Mo explains things in a way that clicks, and it’s full of actionable advice. Listen here.
  • Calm App
Start with their free 30-day trial. Just 10 minutes of meditation a day can literally grow your brain (science says so). It’s been my go-to for starting the day right.
  • Tony Robbins Free Seminar
Jack swears by it, and it’s free! Happening at the end of January—a perfect way to jump-start the year. Sign up here.

Wrapping It Up

Here’s the deal: this year for me isn’t about chasing dreams; it’s about building the platform to make them happen. I’ve come to realise that life isn’t about overloading yourself with to-dos—it’s about crafting one that feels good in the process. It's still early days, and it’s easy to feel confident and evangelical at the start of the year (love being the New Year’s Bore! haha), but I really do believe focusing on my physical state unlocks everything else I want to achieve.

Here's to a great 2025 and hopefully I don’t get spotted in the pub at noon next week :)

P.S. Feel free to DM me if you want to chat about the above.
