Let’s face it, blackheads are annoying! No matter your skin care regimen and whether you have great clear complexion, it seems like blackheads are unavoidable. The pores on the nose are some of the largest ones on your face and these pesky little black dots appear when our pores become clogged with sebum, oil or dead skin cells (which contain melanin). After long exposure to oxygen, the dead skin turns black... lovely.

Don't 'Squeeze' them out, as it will only irritate the skin and can cause scarring. So, we’ve compiled a list of the effective yet natural remedies which will help you to get rid of blackheads for good.

1. Orba Originals Vitamin E Facial Scrub

Exfoliation is key and should be part of your weekly ritual. Exfoliation removes the upper layer of skin cells which helps to prevent old skin cells, dirt and makeup from blocking pores. This scrub uses walnut shell granules for it’s exfoliating properties and can help to stimulate circulation. It’s stacked full of vitamin E which acts as an antioxidant to moisturise the skin. This formula not only smells amazing due to the addition of rose oil but leaves the skin feeling fresh, smooth and glowing.

HOW TO USE

1. Use two to three times a week

2. Dab a small amount of Vitamin E Facial scrub into the palms of the hands, rub together then smooth over face and massage gently into dampened skin.

3. Rinse thoroughly.

2. Bamboo Charcoal Sheet Face Mask

If you struggle with blemish prone skin and blocked pores, then the use of a clay mask once a week can be very beneficial. A mask can be really effective when it comes to drawing impurities out of the skin and reducing oil production. The Bamboo charcoal sheet mask from Vitamasques has been inspired by Korean innovation and uses triple layer sheet technology designed to enhance the moisture content within the mask and lead to an increased absorption rate within the skin. This mask helps to cleanse, open up clogged pores and tightens them, giving you a long-lasting, young and fresh look each time.

HOW TO USE

1. Apply mask to a clean, dry face, leave for 20 minutes and remove.

2. Pat excess product into the skin and neck.

For best results try exfoliating before applying the mask as this will allow it to really penetrate the skin.

3. Natural Spa Factory Tea Tree and Willow Leaf Peel off Face Mask

This peel off mask is like no other. It comes with superb antibacterial properties to reduce inflammation and scars. The zinc and sulphur contained in marine silts and willow leaves help to reduce sebum, block off pores and banish blackheads and pimples. The invigorating menthol gives an intense cooling effect and clears the senses with its fresh aroma. Lastly, marine algae are renowned for their moisturising and healing properties which in part can be down to their high levels of antioxidants.

HOW TO USE

1. Mix half the sachet (15g of powder) to 45ml (45g) of water at 20 degrees Celsius

2. Stir quickly with a spatula for approx 1 minute to achieve a smooth paste.

3. Apply immediately with a thicker application around the jaw avoiding the eyes. The mask sets within 5-6 minutes.

4. Leave for 10-15 minutes for best results.

5. Remove in one piece from the jaw upwards.

4. Konjac Facial Puff Sponge with Bamboo Charcoal

Packed with mineral-rich charcoal powder, this sponge deep cleans the pores to eliminate blackheads and dirt whilst absorbing excess oils and toxins. A natural antioxidant which kills stubborn acne-causing bacteria making this the perfect sponge for occasional spot-sufferers, beard growers or those with oily to combination skin types. Bamboo is a type of fast growing grass and has natural antimicrobial properties. This sponge is perfect for stimulating blood flow & cell turnover while lifting make-up & grime for a radiant, peachy-soft complexion

HOW TO USE

1. Before use, rinse and hydrate your Konjac Sponge in warm water.

2. Squeeze out any excess water and gently cleanse skin.

It is not necessary to use cleansing products, but a small amount can be added to your Konjac Sponge if desired. If a cleanser is added, the sponge will help the product work harder and go further.

5. Natural Spa Factory Boosting Facial Tonic

A toner is a critical step when cleansing the skin, it can help to remove dust, pollution and other impurities which are common triggers for blackhead formation. This gentle face tonic can also be used as a refreshing face spray throughout the day. It has been infused with aloe vera and rose water to hydrate and balance the skin’s PH levels. Suitable for all skin types it’s the perfect solution for getting rid of the day’s grime. The high concentration of tannins in witch hazel also makes make this tonic an excellent natural astringent, to remove excess oil and shrink pores. Regular use may prevent further blemishes, especially blackheads which result from dried sebum build-up in pores.

HOW TO USE

1. Apply a small squirt (5-10ml) to a cotton pad and gently swipe over the entire face and neck, taking care around the eye area.
