WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?

As a coach and a trainer, one of the biggest motivations for me is seeing people achieve. Whether it's in a class or whether it's after a number of sessions, to see somebody able to do something that they never thought they could do, and to be able to go off and do it, is my main motivation.

WHY DO SOME PEOPLE LOSE MOTIVATION?

Motivation is the reason why we do something, why we take an action and when we're enjoying something, when it's fun and pleasurable we don't really need much of a reason because it's intrinsically rewarding. We tend to lose motivation when things get hard and the sad part is, the more intelligent we are, the more we are able to convince ourselves that we didn't need it anyway. That can be a real danger with motivation. A lot of the time we lose motivation because things get a little bit tougher and we need other reasons to continue doing them.

WHAT'S THE BIGGEST DE-MOTIVATOR?

One of the key ones happens when people don't see results. As adults, we expect to see results straight away. We start something and expect to be able to pick it up straight away and when we don't meet those standards we lose motivation.

WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY?

Me! I'd like to clarify that though! Happiness is a state, it's not anything we can achieve, it's something that we can choose for ourselves at any point during our lives. Some people who've got lots of money and everything else might still be unhappy because they haven't chosen to appreciate it or they haven't chosen to be happy about it. Only we can do that.
